Acerca del autor (2005)

Diana Washington Valdez is a reporter for the El Paso Times of Texas, and has dedicated herself to investigate the murders in Ciudad Juarez. Because of her extensive coverings of these killings, she wrote Cosecha de Mujers, (Harvest of Women), where the author explains why the Mexican authorities have not been able to arrest the guilty parties, and the explanations of serial killers, trafficking in human organs, snuff videos, satanic rituals or street gangs do not stand up. Her theory regarding the web of corruption and impunity that is prevalent amongst the authorities, the protection they receive, and the coercion that prominent families of Ciudad Juarez exert, including those linked to narcotics, is part of a story so real and chilling, and because of her investigations, she has been threatened.
