COMMITTEE ON THE JUDICIARY,

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Washington, D. C., January 26, 1912.

The committee met at 10.30 o'clock a. m. pursuant to special order, Hon. Henry D. Clayton, chairman, presiding, for hearings upon the subject of general trust legislation. Others were heard upon H. R. 11380, H. R. 11381, H. R. 15926, and H. R. 19959. The part of the proceedings relating to Mr. Skinner's remarks is as follows:

STATEMENT OF MR. DAVID E. SKINNER, OF PORT BLAKELY, WASH., PRESIDENT OF THE PORT BLAKELY MILL CO.

Mr. HUMPHREY (Representative from the State of Washington): I have a constituent here, Mr. Skinner, who lives on the Pacific coast, and he has been trying to be heard for a few moments by this committee, and I do not know just how long it will take, but I would like to urge the committee to hear him as soon as possible and not keep him here. He has been here for two weeks or so and he wants to go home.

Mr. LITTLETON. What does he want to be heard upon?
Mr. HUMPHREY. It is on some amendment.

The CHAIRMAN. We will try to accommodate the gentleman. Mr. HUMPHREY. I wish you would, because I know Mr. Skinner is staying here at a very great sacrifice to himself, and if he could be given a little time he will go home. He is not only at the expense of staying in Washington, but his business is suffering in other lines.

After some other gentlemen had been heard upon other subjects the following proceedings took place and Mr. Skinner was heard.
