light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. (Isaiah lx.)

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God, for he hath clothed me with the garment of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness. (Isaiah lxi.)

DR. GREENE.

ANTHEM CXXXV.

THE King shall rejoice in thy strength, O Lord: exceeding glad shall he be of thy salvation. Thou shalt prevent him with the blessings of goodness: and hast set a crown of pure gold upon his head. (Ps. xxi.) O Lord, grant him a long life: that his years may endure throughout all generations. He shall dwell before God for ever: O prepare thy loving mercy and faithfulness, that they may preserve him. (Ps. lxi.) As for his enemies, clothe them with shame but upon himself let his crown flourish. Amen. (Ps. cxxxii.)

Let thy mercy, O Lord, continue upon him for evermore and thy counsel stand fast with him.

Let his seed endure for ever: and his throne as the days of heaven. (Psalm lxxxix.)

O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands: sing, rejoice, and give thanks. (Psalm c.)

ANTHEM CXXXVI.

O LORD, have mercy upon me; for I am in trouble my strength faileth me; but my hope is in thee: I have said, Thou art my God. (Psalm xxxi.)

Sing to Jehovah, sing praises to him that rideth upon the heavens: extol him, rejoice before him. (Psalm lxviii.)

ANTHEM CXXXVII.

THEN Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and spread them in the way.

And the multitude that went before and followed after, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. (Matt. xxi.)

HANDEL.

ANTHEM CXXXVIII.

ASCRIBE unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people; ascribe unto the Lord worship and power.

Ascribe unto the Lord the honour due

unto his name: bring presents, and come into his courts.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness let the whole earth stand in awe of him.

Tell it out among the heathen, that the Lord is King and that it is he that hath made the round world so sure that it cannot be moved; and how that he shall judge the people righteously.

Tell it out among the heathen, that the Lord is King.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad let the sea make a noise, and all that therein is.

Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice before the Lord.

:

For he cometh, he cometh to judge the earth and with righteousness to judge the world, and the people with his truth. Amen. (Psalm xcvi.)

TRAVERS.

ANTHEM CXXXIX.

BLESS the Lord, O my soul! and forget not all his benefits! who forgiveth all thine iniquities who healeth all thy diseases! who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies.

Bless the Lord, &c. (Psalm ciii.)

ANTHEM CXL.

O LORD, thou hast searched me out, and known me thou knowest my down-sitting and mine up-rising, thou understandest my thoughts long before.

Thou art about my path, and about my bed and spiest out all my ways.

For lo, there is not a word in my tongue : but thou, O Lord, knowest it altogether.

Whither shall I go then from thy Spirit : or whither shall I go then from thy presence ?

If I climb up into heaven, thou art there; if I go down to hell, thou art there also.

:

If I take the wings of the morning and remain in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Even there also shall thy hand lead me: and thy right hand shall hold me.

How dear are thy counsels unto me, O God: O how great is the sum of them!

If I tell them, they are more in number than the sand when I awake up, I am present with thee.

Try me, O God, and seek the ground of my heart prove me, and examine my thoughts; look well if there be any way of wickedness in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Ps. cxxxix.)

ANTHEM CXLI.

WHEREWITHAL shall a young man cleanse his way even by ruling himself after thy

word.

With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not go wrong out of thy command

ments.

Blessed art thou, O Lord: O teach me thy statutes. Hallelujah. Amen. (Ps. cxix.)

ANTHEM CXLII.

IN the days of Herod, the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

There beneath a lowly shed

They found the heavenly infant laid,
Their richest gifts before him spread,
And humblest adoration paid.

When the time drew near, that all things that were written concerning the Son of Man should be accomplished, that he should be delivered unto the Gentiles, and be mocked, and spit upon, and that they should scourge him, and put him to death, and on the third day he should rise again; then Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and a very great multitude spread their garments in the way, others cut
