PHILLIPS HOUSE, DAYTON, May 1st, 1860.

Forenoon spent in nominating committeemen.

Afternoon spent in visiting proposed sites for the Fair.

EVENING SESSION.

It was agreed to locate the Fair on the Montgomery County Fair Grounds, together with Phillips' Hill, and a portion of the field adjoining the Fair grounds on the south.

On motion, it was

Ordered, That the Corresponding Secretary issue complimentary tickets to the Clergy of Dayton, Mayor and Council, the Press generally, superintendents of railroads, and members of other Boards of Agriculture.

Ordered, That Messrs. Townshend and Waddle be a committee to decide upon the style of Badges to be worn by the members during the Fair.

Mr. Reber tendered his resignation as Treasurer, whereupon Mr. Potwin was appointed to fill the vacancy.

Mr. Trimble was appointed to take charge of the Fine Arts department, vics Potwin, promoted. Mr. Reber was appointed to take charge of the Horse department, vice Trimble.

Ordered, That the Corresponding Secretary be authorized to contract with Messrs. Follett, Foster & Co., for the printing of 12,000 copies of the Premium List, at the price named in their proposal ($230). Also, that he be authorized to contract with Benedict, Fairbanks & Co., for the printing of 2,500 posters, at a price not exceeding a pro rata of their proposal to print 3,000. Also, that he be authorized to have committeemen's badges, entrance cards, and such other printing as may be necessary, done in proper time and at reasonable rates.

Ordered, That Messrs. Middleton, Strowbridge & Co. be instructed to furnish diplomas from the new design now submitted to the Board for approval.

Adjourned to meet again on the 24th of September, at the Phillips House, Dayton, O.

PHILLIPS HOUSE, DAYTON, O., June, 1860.

According to a call of the President, an executive meeting was held at the Phillips House. Present, Alex. Waddle, Pres't, John M. Millikin, and John H. Klippart, Cor. Sec.

Mr. Millikin submitted, that in view of the fact that the so-called U. S. Agricul tural Society were determined to hold a Fair at Cincinnati, that some additional premiums might with propriety be offered by the Ohio State Board.

On motion, the Corresponding Secretary was authorized to issue the following circular, and distribute it with the Premium List:

Increased Premiums on Horses and Cattle, to be exhibited at Ohio State Fair, at Dayton, September 25 to 28, 1860.

The Ohio State Board of Agriculture have deemed it expedient to change the premiums on Sweepstakes on Horses and Cattle, as follows:

Best herd, consisting of one Bull and four Cows, all to be of one breed, and owned by the exhibiter, a premium of.......

The Corresponding Secretary submitted a proposition relative to a visit to Massachusetts to investigate and learn the nature and extent of the cattle malady then and there threatening destruction to the entire bovine race.

The President expressed himself favorably impressed with the proposition, but the executive committee has no power to act in the premises. However desirable such an investigation may be, it is entirely beyond the discretion of the committee to grant it.

OHIO STATE FAIR FOR 1860.

The Ohio State Fair in 1853 was located and held in the city of Dayton, and the claims of the Miami Valley for the location in the same city of the Fair of 1860, may briefly be enumerated as follows: Dayton, according to population, is the fourth city in the State, but being an inland city, with no advantages except its own merit, it deserves to rank much higher. It is situated in the midst of the best agricultural region of the State-the Miami Valley yielding the palm for a soil of easy culture, and unexcelled production, to no other similar region or district in the State. Montgomery county is one of eleven counties in the southwest
