There was a sufficient number to cover all the premium list, but not so many of the best flocks represented as is desirable to make it interesting to the examining committee, or as might have been expected from so fine a wool-growing State as Ohio; or as the importance of the business, or the best interest of the State demand. Very respectfully yours, MERINOS AND GRADES. JACOB T. PUGSLEY. 66 In this class of Marinos and Grades were 45 entries, comprising 142 animals. The following are the awards: W. Ogden, Lexington, Ky We, the undersigned committee on long wooled sheep, find 49 entries in this class, there being 14 bucks over 2 years, many of them very fine. We award the first premium to No. 54, thinking that he combines more weight, style, and constitution. The second, we award to No. 30, several others being almost equally good. In bucks, over one year, we award the first premium to No. 36, and the second to No. 45, there being nine entries in this class. On ewes over two years, we award the first premium to No. 32, and the second to No. 7, there being other pens almost equally fine. There were fifty sheep in this class. Of ewes, under 2 years, there were seven entries. We award the first premium to No. 33, and the second to No. 26. We find seven entries of lambs. We award the first premium to No. 34, and the second to No. 51. Our opinion is that there was an extraordinary fine show of this class of sheep, and in grown bucks, ewes and lambs, we found it very hard to decide to which we should award the premiums. Which report is respectfully submitted. A. P. O'NEALL, W. WILLIAMS, N. L. CHAFFEE. Committee. |
