seven, entitled "An act to provide for the appointment and to fix the term of office, duties and compensation of circuit court stenographers in the state of Michigan," the same being section fourteen thousand five hundred ten of the compiled laws of nineteen hundred fifteen, is hereby amended to read as follows:

SEC. 43. In the thirtieth circuit, the stenographer shall be paid an annual salary of two thousand five hundred dollars. If an additional stenographer be appointed for said circuit, such stenographer shall receive the same salary. Approved April 11, 1923.

AN ACT to amend section nineteen of act number one hundred eighty-three of the public acts of eighteen hundred ninety-seven, entitled "An act to provide for the appointment and to fix the term of office, duties and compensation of circuit court stenographers in the state of Michigan," being section fourteen thousand four hundred eighty-five of the compiled laws of nineteen hundred fifteen.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Section nineteen of act number one hundred eighty-three of the public acts of eighteen hundred ninetyseven, entitled "An act to provide for the appointment and to fix the term of office, duties and compensation of circuit court stenographers in the state of Michigan," being section fourteen thousand four hundred eighty-five of the compiled laws of nineteen hundred fifteen, is hereby amended to read as follows:

SEC. 19. In the sixth circuit the stenographer of each division shall be paid an annual salary of three thousand dollars. Such stenographer shall, from time to time, under the provisions of section five of this act, furnish at his own expense, an assistant when necessary.

AN ACT to amend section seven of act number two hundred thirty-six of the public acts of nineteen hundred fifteen, entitled "An act to protect fish in the inland waters of this state and to regulate the manner of taking, possession, transportation, size and sale of fish when taken from said waters, to provide penalties for the violation of this act, and to repeal all acts and parts of acts conflicting therewith," being section seven thousand six hundred sixty of the compiled laws of nineteen hundred fifteen, as amended by act number two hundred sixty of the public acts of nineteen hundred nineteen.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to Brook trout, purchase, buy or sell or attempt to purchase, buy or sell, any unlawful to brook trout or any large or small mouth black bass, calico buy, etc. bass, white bass, sturgeon, blue gills, sunfish, rock bass, walleyed pike or crappies, at any season of the year, except walleyed pike legally taken with hook and line in the waters of the Detroit river, Lake St. Clair, St. Clair river and St. Mary's river, or to have in possession any of the kinds of fish above named, during the prohibitive periods in which the taking or catching of such species is prohibited: Pro- Proviso. vided, That no perch of less length than nine inches shall be bought or sold or offered for sale: Provided further, That Further proviso. it shall be lawful to purchase and sell white bass imported from the Dominion of Canada.

AN ACT to amend sections two and ten of act number one hundred seventeen of the public acts of nineteen hundred twenty-one, entitled "An act to provide for the protection of game and birds, to regulate the taking, possession, use and transportation of the same, to prohibit the sale thereof. to regulate the manner of hunting, pursuing and killing game or birds, to provide a penalty for the violation of any of the provisions of this act," approved May five, nineteen hundred twenty-one.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Sections two and ten of act number one hundrd seventeen of the public acts of nineteen hundred twentyone, entitled "An act to provide for the protection of game and birds, to regulate the taking, possession, use and transportation of the same, to prohibit the sale thereof, to regulate the manner of hunting, pursuing and killing game or birds, to provide a penalty for the violation of any of the provisions of this act," approved May five, nineteen hundred twenty-one, are hereby amended to read as follows:

SEC. 2. No person shall at any time of the year, or in any manner take, pursue, wound or kill any wild animal or wild bird mentioned in this act, or any introduced game animals or birds, or transport for sale, sell, offer or expose for sale, or have the same in possession, contrary to the provisions of this act.

SEC. 10. No person or persons shall at any time make use of any pit, pitfall, deadfall, scaffold, cage, snare, trap, net, baited hook, or any similar device, or any drug, poison, chemical, or explosive for the purpose of injuring, capturing or killing any birds or animals protected by the laws of this state, nor shall any person at any time or in any manner whatever, injure, destroy or rob the eggs of any bird protected by the laws of this state, molest, harass or annoy such birds upon their nests, except as herein provided: Provided, however, That said provision shall not prohibit the trapping of fur-bearing animals, as provided by law. No person shall hunt, pursue, worry or kill any wild waterfowl, or partridge or other bird or animals by any means whatever during such time as said person is upon any floating device, automobile or other contrivance propelled by, or using as motive power, steam, gas, naphtha, oil, gasoline or electricity, or when upon any sailboat. No person while in an automobile shall carry a gun or other firearm, except a pistol or revolver, unless the same be unloaded. No person shall make use of a swivel or punt gun, or any gun of a greater size than ten gauge for the killing of any wild waterfowl or make use of any battery, sink boat or any similar device. AN ACT to repeal act number two hundred seventy of the public acts of nineteen hundred eleven. entitled "An act to regulate the sale of poison and poisonous substances in this state," being section fifteen thousand one hundred fifty-five of the compiled laws of nineteen hundred fifteen.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

AN ACT to amend section one of act eighty-eight of the public acts of eighteen hundred ninety-three, entitled "An act prohibiting the transportation of fish outside of the state which are caught in any of the waters of the counties of Branch or St. Joseph."

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

That no person, company or corporation shall at any time expose for sale, transport, or have in his or its possession any fish except bullheads, carp or suckers, for any purpose except consumption as food in this state, which have been caught in any of the waters of Branch and St. Joseph counties.

AN ACT to amend sections four and fifteen of act one hundred fifty-nine of the public acts of nineteen hundred nineteen, entitled "An act to regulate the taking of fish in the waters of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie and the bays thereof, and the connecting waters between said. lakes within the jurisdiction of this state; to regulate the transportation, sale and possession of fish taken from said waters."

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Sections four and fifteen of act one hundred fifty-nine, of the public acts of nineteen hundred nineteen, as amended by act two hundred twenty-five of the public acts of nineteen hundred twenty-one, entitled "An act to regulate the taking of fish in the waters of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie and the bays thereof, and the connecting waters between said lakes within the jurisdiction of this state; to regulate the transportation, sale and possession of fish taken from said waters," are hereby amended to read as follows:

SEC. 4. It shall be unlawful to place or set any net, set ful to place. hook or other device for the purpose of taking or catching fish, at the mouth of any river emptying into Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron or Erie or the bays or inlets thereof, within the state of Michigan, if said river is navigable for vessels drawing ten feet or more of water, which will extend a greater distance than one mile from the shore, within one mile along the shore of either side of the thread of the river. This provision, however, shall not be construed to permit the setting of nets or set hooks within one hundred sixty rods of the mouth of any river navigable for vessels drawing ten feet or more of water, nor within forty rods on either side of the mouth of any other river or the outlet of any inland lake.
