PRINCIPLES of the LAW of REAL PROPERTY, intended as a First Book for the Use of Students in Conveyancing. By JOSHUA WILLIAMS, Esq., of Lincoln's Inn, Barrister at Law. "Decidedly superior to any of its predecessors. A Work with which no Common law Student should neglect to provide himself at the outset of his Pupilage."-Warren's Law Studies, pp. 560, 766.

"The want which the Student has felt, of an Elementary Guide to the Law of Real Property as it exists, and as it is practically important at the present day, Mr. Williams (who was already favourably known to the Profession by an edition of Watkins's Treatise on Descents, published in 1837) has endeavoured to supply by his present Work, and, we think, with eminent success. He has developed his plan with great

clearness of method, in a lively and agreeable style."-Jurist.

"In many important respects, a decided improvement upon its predecessors; and when the names of some of these are remembered, we think, that, in expressing this opinion, we are passing no slight praise upon Mr. Williams's book."-Law Magazine. "Of considerable use and merit.

It appears to us written in

a pleasing and agrecable style, and well calculated to make a favourable impression on the Student."-Law Review. Price 1s. 6d. sewed,

Several Assurance Offices belong exclusively to Lawyers, and the advantages of their connexion are acknowledged, but those advantages have hitherto been confined to the Shareholders.

It is one of the objects of this Institution to place the Benefits arising from this connexion within the reach of every Member of the Profession in the United Kingdom, whether he be a Shareholder or not.

Another and paramount object is to give the Assured perfect security at the most moderate cost, and to afford them the Advantages, without the risks, of Mutual Assurance.

The Public will have the option of assuring either upon a scale entitling them to participate in the Profits, or upon a lower scale, without profits.

Four fifths of the Profits from Assurances upon the higher scale will be divided periodically among the Assured; and one fifth will be carried to a Fund, comprising all the profits accruing to the Society from other

sources.

The first charge upon this Fund will be the payment of Interest, at the rate of 41. per cent. per annum to the Shareholders, upon the amount of the Capital paid up; then a portion of the surplus (not exceeding one tenth) will be applied in aid of a Widows' and Orphans' Fund, or Nominee Society, for the benefit of the Widows and Families of Members of the Profession; and of the residue one moiety will be divided amongst the Shareholders, and the other moiety between the Solicitors through whose means Assurances are effected.

The attention of the Profession is earnestly invited to the principles of this Society, which comb ne perfect security to the Assured, with advantages to the Profession superior to those afforded by the existing Law Assurance Offices:

The Society will transact every species of business usually undertaken by Life Assurance Companies; and the utmost care will be taken to render the arrangement of this Office satisfactory to the Profession and the Public.

A Table of Premiums is in course of preparation, and will shortly be published.

Some Shares rema`n to be allo ted, or which application, in the usual form, may be made to the Secretary.
