Opinion of the Press.

The following is a type of the opinion formed of the FAMILY FRIEND, and expressed by

upwards of THREE HUNDRED NEWSPAPERS: "There never was a book which more honestly earned its title, or more fully satisfied the expectations which that title would lead one to form of its character, than the Family Friend, the volumes of which, beautifully got out, are now before us. Those who have seen a copy of the work will bear us out in our statement, that a more useful and generally entertaining family library book has never been published. It contains a fund of information that it would be difficult to find elsewhere in the same compass, There are tales for the Children; cookery, and other household recipes for Mamma; chess problems for Papa; poetry and crochet for tbe young Ladies; enigmas, anagrams, and charades for the young Gentlemen to exercise their ingenuity on; and a large quantity of miscellaneous reading to suit all tastes."
