The Collect.

GOD is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The Gospel. St. Luke xvi. 1.

The Collect.

be opened to the prayers of thy hum-
ble servants; and that they may ob-
tain their petitions, make them to ask
such things as shall please thee,

The Epistle. 1 Cor. xii. 1. CONCERNING spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man, speaking by the SPIRIT OF GOD, calleth JESUS accursed; and that no man can say that JESUS is the LORD, but by the HOLY GHOST. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same SPIRIT. And there are differences of administrations, but the same LORD. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same GOD who worketh all in all.

The Gospel. St. Luke xix. 41.

AND when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee,

that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee: and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought, saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves. And he taught daily in the temple.

THE TWELFTH SUNDAY AFTER

The Epistle. 1 Cor. xv. 1. BRETHREN, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I deTRINITY. livered unto you first of all, that The Collect. which I also received, how that ALMIGHTY and everlasting CHRIST died for our sins, according GOD, who art always more ready to to the Scriptures; and that he was hear than we to pray, and art wont buried; and that he rose again the to give more that either we desire or third day, according to the Scrip- deserve; pour down upon us the tures; and that he was seen of Ce-abundance of thy mercy, forgiving us phas; then of the twelve: after that, those things whereof our conscience he was seen of above five hundred is afraid, and giving us those good brethren at once; of whom the greater things which we are not worthy to part remain unto this present; but ask, but through the merits and mesome are fallen asleep. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the Church of GOD. But, by the grace of GOD, I am what I am; and his grace, which was bestowed upon me, was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of GoD which was with me. Therefore, whetner it were I, or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

The Epistle. 2 Cor. iii. 4. SUCH trust have we through CHRIST to GOD-ward: not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of GOD. Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance, which glory was to be done away; how shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

The Gospel. St. Mark vii. 31.

The Gospel. St. Luke xviii. 9. JESUS spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a Publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself: GOD, I thank thee, that I am not as other men åre, ex- JESUS, departing from the coasts tortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even of Tyre and Sidon, came unto the sea as this Publican: I fast twice in the of Galilee, through the midst of the week, I give tithes of all that I pos- coasts of Decapolis, and they bring sess. And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

The Gospel. St. Luke x. 23. BLESSED are the eyes which see the things that ye see: for I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. The Epistle. Gal. vi. 11.

I SAY then, Walk in the Spirit, and shall not fulfil the lust of the ye flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. The Gospel. St. Luke xvii. 11. AND it came to pass, as JESUS went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices, and said, JESUS, Master, have mercy

For in CHRIST JESUS neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
