THE

HE Catalogue of Copyright Entries, Part 1, Group 1, containing the titles for books proper, is printed weekly with entries arranged alphabetically by author, or, if anonymous, by title. This group contains mainly the titles of books for which printed catalogue cards are issued by the Library of Congress, etc., also including the titles of foreign books registered under the act of March 3, 1905, for ad interim protection.

The Catalogue of Copyright Entries, Part 1, Group 2, contains mainly the titles of pamphlets, leaflets, and contributions to periodicals, and all other productions registered under the legal designation "book" not found in Group 1, including also, however, preliminary reports of court decisions, local directories, herd-books and other annuals, etc. To avoid the inconvenient necessity of searching through 52 alphabets in each year in order to locate any given title, these entries are published in separate monthly alphabets beginning with January, 1909. Group 2 also contains in two separate alphabets the titles for the entries made in Class "D," Dramatic Compositions, and Class "E," Maps and Charts.

The number at the end of each title, after the notice of copyright, is a citation number by means of which reference is made in the index to this title.

The books for which printed cards are supplied by the Library of Congress may be ordered by the number, printed with a hyphen, at the left and immediately above the copyright notice.
