CHIEF JUSTICE WAITE: This is a writ of error for the review of a judgment of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia refusing a mandamus against William E. Chandler, Secretary of the Navy, to require of him the performance of certain alleged official duties. Mr. Chandler is no longer Secretary, and the office is now filled by his successor. The suit has therefore abated, and it is dismissed on the authority of United States v. Boutwell, 17 Wall. 609.
