1. Amend by inserting in line 5 of section 3 after the word "State" the words "and to enforce all laws provided for that purpose with all authority granted by law;".

Senate Bill No. 145 (file No. 108)—

A bill to require the bonding of persons, firms and corporations engaged in the business of soliciting accounts for collection.

The message informed the House of Representatives that the Senate had nonconcurred in the amendments made to the bill by the House of Representatives. Mr. Jewell moved that the House insist on its amendments and ask for a conference on the matters of difference between the two Houses relative to the bill.

The motion prevailed.

A message was received from the Senate returning with certain amendments House Bill No. 8 (file No. 28)—

A bill governing appeals in the circuit and supreme courts, and to provide for court stenographers in certain cities.

The following are the amendments made to the bill by the Senate:

(1) Section 1, line 3, after the word "peace", strike out the word "shall”, and insert in lieu thereof the word "may".

(2) Section 1, line 6, after the word "provided", insert "Provided further that in justice courts having more than one justice, not to exceed three stenographers shall be appointed as provided herein."

The message informed the House of Representatives that the Senate had passed the bill as thus amended.
