AT a GENERAL MEETING of Proprietors, held at the New School, on Monday, the 27th April, 1835;

The LORD BISHOP OF ROCHESTER, President, in the chair;

It was, amongst other things, unanimously resolved: UPON the motion of Lieutenant-General Sir W. INGLIS,

That the Thanks of this Meeting are especially due to the LORD BISHOP of ROCHESTER, for his acceptance of the office of President of this Establishment; thereby affording the sanction of his Lordship's name and example in furtherance of the objects of an Institution, combining the advantages of sound literary and moral instruction, with the inculcation of the religious principles of the Established Church.

And for his kind and valuable assistance this day.

UPON the motion of the Honorable and Reverend H. LEGGE,

That his Lordship be requested to allow the excellent PRAYER, offered by him this day for the Divine blessing upon this Institution, to be printed for circulation among the Proprietors.

UPON the motion of the Rev. A. DRUMMOND, That the Thanks of the Proprietors be given to the REV. S. PROSSER, for his sound and excellent ADDRESS.

AND, on the motion of A. GORDON, Esq.,

That Mr. Prosser be requested to give permission to the Committee to print his ADDRESS, for circulation among the Proprietors.

A 2

PRAYER.

O GOD, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed, we beseech thee to send down thy blessing upon this Institution, for the promotion of sound religion and useful Learning.

Grant that those who shall be here educated may not only imbibe the lessons of human wisdom and knowledge, but may be made wise unto salvation, by the study and instruction of thy holy Word, and by laying up in their hearts those pure and heavenly precepts, which will comfort and support them amidst all the changes and chances of this mortal life, and will finally guide them to thine everlasting Kingdom.

Thou, O Lord, never failest to help and govern. them whom thou dost bring up in thy stedfast fear and love: keep then, we beseech thee, the members of this School under the protection of thy good Providence, that they may in all things obey thy

blessed Will, and may be preserved both in body and soul, through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Prevent us, O Lord, in all our doings, with thy most gracious favor, and further us with thy continual help, that in all our works, begun, continued, and ended in Thee, we may glorify thy holy Name, and finally, by thy mercy, obtain everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you for ever.
