ANTHEM S.

Job xxii. 21, &c.

Acquaint thyself with Gon, and be at peace with Him; and lay up His words in thine heart. If thou return to the ALMIGHTY, put away iniquity from thee: then shall He be thy defence and thy delight.

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto Him, and He will hear thee.

The LORD will deliver the righteous: He will save the humble man.

2.

Psalm cxlv. 10-13.

GREENE.

All Thy works praise Thee, O LORD: and Thy saints give thanks unto Thee.

They show the glory of Thy kingdom and talk of Thy power;

That Thy power, Thy glory, and mightiness of Thy kingdom: might be known unto men.

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom: and Thy dominion endureth throughout all ages. WEBBE.

3.

Psalm xlii. 1, 15.

As the hart panteth after the water brooks: so my soul longeth after JEHOVAH.

O put thy trust in GOD: for I will thank Him, I will praise Him Who is my hope and my sal

vation.

4.

Isaiah lii. 1, 2, 7, 9, 10.

Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Sion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, thou holy city.

Shake thyself from the dust, loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Sion.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace, that bringeth glad tidings of good, that publisheth salvation, that saith unto Sion, Thy GOD reigneth.

Break forth into joy, Hallelujah. Sing together ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted His people, He hath redeemed Jerusalem.

The LORD hath made bare His holy arm in the sight of all nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our GOD. Hallelujah. WISE.

5.

Psalm lvii. 9—12.

Awake up, my glory; awake, lute and harp: I myself will awake right early.

I will give thanks unto Thee, O LORD, among the people and I will sing unto Thee among the nations.

Awake, &c.

For the greatness of Thy mercy reacheth unto the heavens and Thy truth unto the clouds. Awake, &c.

Set up Thyself, O GOD, above the heavens: and Thy glory above all the earth.

6.

Isaiah xxxiii. 2, 5.

WISE.

Be gracious unto us, LORD; we have waited for Thee: be Thou our salvation in the time of trouble. The LORD is exalted; He dwelleth on high. Amen.

ELVEY.

7.

Isaiah vii. 14; xl. 9; lx. 1.

Behold! a Virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Emmanuel; GOD with us.

O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain! O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength. Say unto the Cities of Judah, Behold your GOD. Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

8.

Isaiah xii. 2.

HANDEL.

Behold, GOD is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song, and He is also become my salvation. CROFT.

9.

Psalm cxxxiii. 1-4.

Behold, how good and joyful a thing it is: brethren, to dwell together in unity.

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down unto the beard: even unto Aaron's beard, and went down to the skirts of his clothing.

Like as the dew of Hermon: which fell upon the hill of Sion.

For there the LORD promised His blessing: and life for evermore.

10.

CLARKE WHITFIELD.

Psalm lxxii. 18, 19.

Blessed be the LORD GOD, even the GOD of Israel: Who only doth wondrous things.

And blessed be the Name of His Majesty for ever: and all the earth shall be filled with His Majesty. Amen.

NARES.
