Juan Tejeda, who founded the Tejano Conjunto Festival, was Director of the Xicano Music Program of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in San Antonio from 1980 to 1998. Avelardo Valdez is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Hispanic Research Center at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
