It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn thy statutes.-Psa. cxix. 71.

IN every calamity that man is heir to, he who puts his trust in the Almighty, will find comforts spring up like flowers under his feet in a desert. He will experience that God is the Father of the fatherless, the husband of the widow, the friend of the friendless, and the sure guardian of all such as have none to help them.

Dr. Knox.

And when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.-1 Pet. v. 4.

THIS is a comfortable end of all troubles and persecutions which the godly suffer in this life, that they be received into the glory of God, and that both their soul and body do live with him and enjoy his presence for ever. Then shall they eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God; they shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more; neither shall the sun,

light on them, nor any heat; away all tears from their eyes.

God shall wipe
Then shall they

feel those joys, which eye hath not seen, nor ear hath heard, nor hath entered into the heartof man. Such an end shall they have who fear the Lord.-Bishop Jewell.

THE END.
