OW, what have you brought for me, little book,

And what brings you here to me?
Oh, I come from a friend, who does fully intend

You should read mc attentively.

And first there's a Primer might please Mrs. TRIMMER,

And the “Pretty Name A B C:”
What with pictures and spelling, I'm sure there's no telling,

When you know them, how clever you'll be.

And then for some fun, when the lessons are done,

There are “ Nursery Rhymes” for you all,
Where you 'll read how dear Mary was very contrary,

And young Humpty would sit on a wall.

And then what there more is of beautiful storics

Of Little Pigs, Old Dames, and Elves, Would take so much time to tell you in rhyme,

That I'll leave you to read it yourselves.

For I'm certain that no boys but dreadfully slow boys,

And no girl who has wit in her head, Can throw me away, and go off to their play,

Till each story that's in me they've read.

HERE's happy little Henry—he sits on Nursey's knee: He's learned to say his letters, and knows great A from B. He's earned this pretty Picture Book which now he's look

ing through, And if

you do as well as he, perhaps there's one for you.
