If you look upon the picture, you will see that even the poor leper does not now stand afar off,—no longer separated from his fellow-creatures, but he is kneeling at the feet of Jesus, and pouring out his thanks for that mercy which has made him feel that he is " a new creature." Jesus then said to this thankful man, "Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole." You may be sure that this man went on his way rejoicing that ever he had met with so great a Prophet as Jesus of Nazareth, and that he went with willing feet to the priests to be declared clean.

E. Did the priests do any thing when the lepers that were cleansed came to them?

exact answer to your question, but as it is told in more than thirty verses I will try and give short account of the ceremonies that God commanded. I have found a passage in a little book called "The Rites and Worship of the Jews," which will tell us a little of what was done. "All that the priests had to do was to examine the leper, and pronounce when he was cleansed. The priest was to examine the leper some days before he was allowed to enter the court of the tabernacle-or, in after times, the temple-to offer the sacrifices commanded by the law for his cleansing."

"The leper could only enter the inner courts, either of the tabernacle or the temple, after the sacrifices were slain and the priest had put some of the blood of the victim upon his left ear." "Two birds were also brought to the priests, one of which was killed, and the other, after it had been dipped in the blood of the slain bird, was let loose."
