"My Lord has need of these flow'rets gay,"

The reaper said, and smiled;

"Dear tokens of the earth are they,
Where He was once a child.

They shall all bloom in fields of light,
Transplanted by my care,

And saints upon their garments white
These sacred blossoms wear."

And the mother gave, in tears and pain,
The flowers she most did love;

She knew she should find them all again
In the fields of Light above.

Oh, not in cruelty, not in wrath,
The reaper came that day;

'Twas an angel visited the green earth,

And took the flowers away.

This, you must remember, is only a description of children who believe in Jesus; for the Bible says, "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord." But of the state of all those who die without being "born again," and made

new creatures in Christ Jesus," the Word of God tells us that "these shall go away into everlasting punishment." Bad children, whose

hearts are not changed by the power of God's Holy Spirit, will never be like those flowers which the reaper cuts down to bloom more brightly in the fields of heaven above.

U. It is the image of the idol-god Moloch, of whom we read in several parts of Scripture; and I have had that and the other picture drawn to shew you one of the differences between what is called a heathen and a Christian nation. You know what I mean by a heathen nation, Emma?

Em. A nation that does not know the true God, and worships idols.

U. Yes; and a wretched and cruel worship such people give to their blind, deaf, and dumb idols, who, as we said before when talking about
