CHRIST in you, the hope of glory.

Col. i. 27.

Jesus, I would be Thine alone,
My heart Thy sovereign sway to own,
Each long-loved idol would dethrone,
To live by faith on Thee.

glory of God.

The highest duties oft are found,
Lying upon the lowest ground:
In hidden and unnoticed ways,

In household works, on common days,
Whate'er is done for God alone,

Thy God acceptable will own.

BE strong in the Lord, and in the

power of His might.

Eph. vi. 10.

Soldiers of the Cross, be strong,
Watch and war 'mid fear and pain,

Daily conquering woe and wrong,
Till our King o'er earth shall reign!

shall be heirs of salvation?

How oft do they their silver bowers leave,
To come to succour us that succour want;
How oft do they with golden pinions cleave
The flitting skies, like flying pursuivant,
Against foul fiends to aid us militant:
They for us fight, they watch and duly ward,

And their bright squadrons round about us plant,
And all for love, and nothing for reward:
O why should heavenly God to man have such regard !

St. Michael and All Angels.

AND every creature which is in heaven,

and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Rev. v. 13.

Ye stars that round the Sun of Righteousness

In glorious order roll,

With harps for ever strung, ready to bless

God for each rescued soul,

Ye eagle spirits, that build in light divine,
Oh! think of us to-day,

Faint warblers of this earth, that would combine
Our trembling notes with your accepted lay.

SING praises, sing praises unto our
God O sing praises, sing praises

unto our King.

Ps. xlvii. 6.

Let all the world in every corner sing

My God and King!

The heavens are not too high,

His praise may thither fly:
The earth is not too low,
His praises there may grow.

Let all the world in every corner sing
My God and King!

The Church with psalms must shout,
No door can keep them out:

But, above all, the heart

Must bear the longest part.

Let all the world in every corner sing
My God and King!

WHERE is God my Maker, who giveth

songs in the night? Job xxxv. 10.

My soul, when I shake off this dust,
Lord, in Thy arms I will entrust:
O make me Thy peculiar care;
Some mansion for my soul prepare!
Give me a place at Thy saints' feet,
Or some fall'n angel's vacant seat!
I'll strive to sing as loud as they,
Who sit above in brighter day.

L richly in all wisdom; teaching and

admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Col. iii. 16.

Much reading may thy spirits wrong,
Refresh them therefore with a song;
And that thy music praise may merit,
Sing David's Psalms with David's spirit;
That as thy voice doth pierce men's ears,
So shall thy prayer and vows the spheres.

Ps. cii. 2.

Temptations sore obstruct my way;

And ills I cannot flee:

O, give me strength, Lord, as my day;
For good remember me!

IVE us this day our daily bread.

St. Matt. vi. II.

What Thou shalt to-day provide,
Let me as a child receive;
What to-morrow may betide

Calmly to Thy wisdom leave:

"Tis enough that Thou wilt care;
Why should I the burden bear?

WILL instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with Mine eye. Ps. xxxii. 8.

As every day Thy mercy spares
Will bring its trials and its cares,
O Saviour, till my life shall end,
Be Thou my counsellor and friend;
Teach me Thy precepts all divine,
And be Thy great example mine.
