HEREBY know we that we dwell in

Him, and He in us, because He

hath given us of His Spirit. 1 John iv. 13.

More of Thy presence, Lord, impart,
More of Thine image let me bear;
Erect Thy throne within my heart,
And reign without a rival there.

HE beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with. Prov. xvii. 14.

Evil, like a rolling stone upon a mountain top,
A child may first impel, a giant cannot stop.

AND God shall wipe away all tears

from their eyes.

Rev. xxi. 4.

Let not sorrow dim your eye;
Soon shall every tear be dry;
Let not fears your course impede,

Great your strength, if great your need.

WOULD not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. I Thess. iv. 13.

'Tis sweet, as year by year we lose
Friends out of sight, in faith to muse
How grows in Paradise our store.

spent.

Abide with me! fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide!
When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me!

E will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces. Isa. xxv. 8.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless,

Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;

Where is death's sting? where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

When our peace with God is made,
None can vex, or make afraid;
Tho' the wrath of man be strong,
It can do the soul no wrong;
Fear of evil tidings never
Can the trusting heart dissever
From the rest and the repose,
The believing spirit knows.

TOT slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.

Rom. xii. II.

Direct, control, suggest, this day,
All I design, or do, or say;

That all my powers, with all their might,

In Thy sole glory may unite.

WILL say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Ps. xci. 2.

O God, our Help in ages past,

Our Hope for years to come,

Be Thou our Guard while troubles last,
And our eternal Home!

EREBY perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for 1 John iii. 16.

There, above noise and danger,

Sweet Peace sits crown'd with smiles,
And One born in a manger

Commands the beauteous files.

He is thy gracious friend,
And (O my soul, awake!)
Did in pure love descend,
To die here for thy sake.

AM the door by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. St. John x. 9.

Christ leads me through no darker rooms

Than He went through before;

He that unto God's kingdom comes

Must enter by this door.

Come, Lord, when grace hath made me meet

Thy blessed face to see;

For if Thy work on earth be sweet,

What will Thy glory be?

BEHOLD, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in Ps. cxxxiii. I.

unity!

Where divine affection lives,
There the Lord His blessing gives,
There His will on earth is done,
There His Heaven is half begun;
Lord, our great example prove,
Teach us all, like Thee, to love.

Ps. xix. 12.

Let all thy converse be sincere,
Thy conscience as the noonday clear;
Think how All-seeing God thy ways
And all thy secret thoughts surveys.

HE earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Isa. xi. 9.

Can we, whose souls are lighted

With wisdom from on high,

Can we to men benighted

The lamp of life deny?
Salvation! oh salvation!

The joyful sound proclaim,
Till each remotest nation
Has learn'd Messiah's Name.
