doing service, as to the Lord' and not to men`: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth', the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond' or free. Tit. ii. 9, 10, Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters', and to please them well in all things`; not answering again`; Not purloining', but shewing all good fidelity'; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour' in all things. 1 Pet. ii. 18, Servants be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good' and gentle, but also to the froward'.

7. Of Magistrates.-Lev. xix. 15, Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment`; thou shalt not respect the person of the poor', nor honour the person of the mighty but in righteousness' shalt thou judge thy neighbour'. Deut. i. 16, 17, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man' and his brother', and the stranger that is with him. Ye shall not respect persons in judgment', but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man', for the judgment is God's`. Deut. xvi. 19, Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons', neither take a gift`: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise', and pervert the words of the righteous. 2 Chron. xix. 6, 7, Take heed what ye do for ye judge not for man', but for the Lord', who is with you' in the judgment`. Wherefore now', let the fear of the Lord be upon you`; take heed' and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord

our God, nor respect of persons', nor taking of gifts. Ps. lxxxii. 3, 4, Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted' and needy. Deliver the poor and needy': rid them out of the hand' of the wicked'. Amos v. 24, Let judgment run down as waters', and righteousness as a mighty stream`. John vii. 24, Judge not according to the appearance', but judge righteous judgment`.

8. Subjects. Exod. xxii. 28, Thou shalt not revile the gods (magistrates), nor curse the ruler of thy people'. Rom. xiii. 1, 5-7, Let every soul be subject' unto the higher powers'; for there is no power' but of God: the powers that be' are ordained of God. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath', but also for conscience' sake. For, for this cause pay ye tribute also`; for they are God's ministers', attending continually upon this very thing`. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due': custom' to whom custom'; fear' to whom fear; honour to whom honour'. Tit. iii. 1, Put them in mind to be subject to principalities' and powers', to obey magistrates', to be ready' to every good work'.

9. Summary of duties to our neighbour.-Lev. xix. 16, Thou shalt not go up and down as a tale-bearer' among thy people`; neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour': I am the Lord. 18, Thou shalt not avenge nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people'; but thou shalt love thy

neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord. Zech. vii. 9, 10, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying`, Execute true judgment`, and shew mercy and compassions' every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow', nor the fatherless', the stranger', nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. Zech. viii. 16, These are the things which ye shall do, Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour`; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates. Matt. vii. 12, Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you', do ye even so to them`: for this is the law and the prophets`. Rom. xii. 14-18, Bless them which persecute you': bless', and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice`, and weep1 with them that weep'. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things', but condescend to men of low estate'. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil'. Provide things honest' in the sight of all men'. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you', live peaceably with all men'. Rom. xiii. 8, Owe no man any thing, but to love one another`; for he that loveth another' hath fulfilled the law.
