EVERY SCHOOL TEACHER

SHOULD READ

THE TIMES
MAGAZINE

FOR JANUARY.

Beginning with its January number, The Times Magazine will commence the publication of a series of articles of vital interest to school teachers throughout the United States. This series will begin with an article on the recent reform in the Chicago public schools, and will be entitled

"MARGARET HALEY, REBEL."

It will tell the true inside story of the movement inaugurated in Chicago by Miss Margaret Haley for the betterment of the condition of Chicago teachers and for the improvement of public-school methods. This reform-started by a woman, without money or influence-has developed into a national issue. William Hard, of Chicago, writes the opening article of this series. It will be followed by other articles written by men and women who understand the teachers' problems and can suggest a solution of them.

AN IDEAL HOME MAGAZINE.

The Times Magazine is the youngest of American magazines, but it starts full-grown and full-size. Every number is filled with the best fiction and the most interesting and instructive special articles that are produced by contemporary writers. Among its regular contributors are such well-known writers as Jack London, Alfred Henry Lewis, Mrs. Wilson Woodrow, Upton Sinclair, Brand Whitlock, Mrs. Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Julian Hawthorne and other leaders in thought and action.

THE JANUARY NUMBER.

Read over this selection from the con-
tents of the January number:

"The Return of Rucker," by Henry A. Lewis.
"Untrue Confessions," by Hugo Munsterberg.
"The Ethical Idea in Playwriting," by Charles
Klein.

"Under the Ice Roof," by Charles G. D. Roberts.
"How the Panama Canal Will Be Built," by
Walter Littlefield.

"Margaret Haley, Rebel," by William Hard.
"A Woman's Utopia," by Charlotte Perkins
Gilman.

"The Case of William Travers Jerome," by
John D. Barry.

Holiday Stocks Are Now
On View

The showing is larger, broader and more replete with novelties than at any previous season. The Toy Section in the basement will be a revelation to those who have looked elsewhere and can therefore appreciate the attractive values offered in this department in imported and domestic playthings.

Handkerchiefs, Gloves, Jewelry, Umbrellas, Haberdashery, Fancy Goods and Bric-abrac are other Christmas lines where assortments are conspicuously complete

Many thousands of beautiful, suitable and sensible gifts are here for your selection, and the same policy of low prices which obtains here throughout the year is a feature of our holiday selling. No fancy prices just because it's holiday time and the public is naturally liberal in their spending.

We are always glad to open Monthly Charge Accounts with Teachers, and invite them to bring us their salary checks when they desire to have them cashed.
