ABROAD.

MAY grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, beloved friends, throughout this opening year!

One more of the few years of earthly service that remain to us is gone! During its course, some of our loved and valued missionary brethren, some of our helpers, and not a few of our donors, have passed away!

Who next? May we each live this year as if we knew it were to be our last; as if we were giving our last gifts, and rendering our last service, and expecting soon to be going up higher to receive our reward. This is sure to be the case with some of us, and who shall say, with whom?

In sending you a fresh number of our little periodical, we think we may count upon your love and sympathy, for special remembrance in prayer at this season? Do, dear friends, ask that this Mission Institute may, for the glory of God, and the good of perishing multitudes in "THE REGIONS BEYOND," be sustained amid the present wide-spread distress and difficulty, which is very seriously affecting the resources at our disposal. Very little is coming in to our Treasury; we have received many new students lately; we are quite full here, and there are but few vacancies at Cliff; our expenses are unavoidably heavy at this season in the Institute itself, and much help is also required in our various missions and schools.

But we rejoice to remember, that God is never poor! He is rich to all who call upon Him, and a thousand times we have proved His power to help. Of our Institute we can say, as of our own souls,—
