Curtis was an eminent U.S. Supreme Court judge, noted for his dissenting opinion in the Dred Scott case. He also defended President Johnson in his impeachment trial. These Lectures were delivered by Judge Curtis to a class of students at Harvard Law School in 1872-73. They have been edited, notes added, & the book includes an index of cases cited & subjects treated.
