NUMBER SIXTY-FIVE.

Lansing, Friday, April 15, 1921. 9:00 o'clock a. m.

The House was called to order by the Speaker.

Major Rolph Duff, of Lansing, offered the invocation:

"Almighty and Everlasting God, we come to Thee this morning, acknowledging our dependence upon Thee and making renewed avowals of our faith and trust in Thee and in Thy great promises. Day by day we are the recipients of Thy bounty and the objects of Thy care. May our hearts be filled with gratitude as we contemplate Thy great goodness and mercy. We pray that Thy blessings may rest upon this Legislature. By Thine infinite wisdom may its members be enabled and sustained, and by Thine unerring and infinite power may they be guided and directed. And to Thee be all praise, now and evermore. Amen."

The roll of the House was called by the Clerk, who announced that a quorum was present.

The following members were absent with leave: Palmer, Reutter and Sanson.

The following members were absent without leave: Messrs. Burnham, Byrum, Dacey, DeWitt, Farrier, Haan, Hunter, Jerome, Lewis, Liddy, McKeon, Geo. H. > Miller, Mosier, Rauchholz, Town, Wells, Welsh, and Woodruff.

Mr. Moore moved that the absentees without leave be excused from today's session.

The motion prevailed.

Messrs Averill, Dean, and Smith asked and obtained leaves of absence from Monday's session.

Messrs Henze and Dafoe asked and obtained leaves of absence from the sessions of Monday and Tueday.

Mr. Dean moved that an indefinite leave of absence be granted to Mr. McKeon. The motion prevailed.

Mr. Moore offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That Rule No. 30 be amended by adding at the end of the second paragraph the words "and the Committee on Labor of seven members."

The resolution was referred to the Committee on Rules and Joint Rules.

Petition of Geo. L. Fulford and fifty other citizens of Royal Oak, protesting against the passage of the bill regulating the practice of Chiropractic within the state.

Petition of the Gratiot County Board of Supervisors favoring the passage of the bill providing for the proposed Colgrove Highway.

Petition of Mrs. Lewis C. Dunn and one hundred sixteen other residents of Detroit favoring the passage of the Mother's Pension Bill.

A bill to amend sections 8 and 9, Act No. 206, Public Acts of 1893-the general tax law.

Messages from the Senate.

A message was received from the Senate requesting the return to the Senate of House Bill No. 237 (file No. 67)

A bill to amend section 1, Act No. 235, Public Acts of 1911-an act to provide for payment of funeral expenses of deceased soldiers, sailors, et al.

Mr. Culver moved that, upon receipt thereof from the Governor, the bill be retransmitted to the Senate in accordance with the request of the Senate therefor. The motion prevailed.

A bill to make appropriations for State Highway Department.

The bill was received from the Senate on Thursday, April 14, with certain amendments made by the Senate, consideration of which was postponed until today under the rules.
