ON THE LAW OF PROPERTY IN LAND EDITED BY WILLIAM A. FINCH PROFESSOR OF LAW IN CORNELL UNIVERSITY SECOND EDITION WITH SUPPLEMENTARY CASES AND NOTES NEW YORK BAKER, VOORHIS & COMPANY PREFACE. This book contains a classified selection of cases on the topics usually taught in our law schools in the course on "Real Property." Systematic and complete annotation was of course impossible within such narrow limits. A few notes have, however, been added, mainly at points where additional references or special suggestions seemed particularly necessary. In the title I have followed Leake, whose "Digest of the Law of Property in Land" has been especially useful to me in the matter of analysis and classification. CORNELL UNIVERSITY, September, 1898. W. A. F. PREFACE TO SECOND EDITION. In the former edition of this book certain topics received less attention than their importance and the general plan of the work would seem to demand. The supplementary cases in this edition are intended, to some extent, to remedy this defect. In the supplementary notes attention has been called to the more important conflicts of opinion on the topics covered. In a number of instances in which the statement of facts in a case in the body of the book has seemed insufficient, it has been supplemented here. Many additional cases have been cited, but no attempt at exhaustive annotation has been made. Many changes have been made in the plates for this edition, including some corrections and the addition of a number of foot notes. A table of cases cited in the notes has been added and in this a reference has been given, when possible, to a duplicate report of the case. CORNELL UNIVERSITY September, 1904. W. A. F. |
