A bill to amend sections 1, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 31 and 33 and to repeal sections 34 and 35 of Act No. 186 of the Public Acts of 1897, entitled "An act defining the limits of the judicial circuits of the State of Michigan," approved May 29, 1897, the said sections being compiler's sections 236, 246, 248, 249, 250, 251, 254, 257, 258, 261, 262, 263, 266, 268, 269 and 270 of the Compiled Laws of 1897, and also to repeal Act No. 15 of the Public Acts of 1899, approved March 8, 1899, Act No. 140 of the Public Acts of 1901, approved April 4, 1901, and Act No. 220 of the Public Acts of 1901, approved June 6, 1901, and Act No. 75 of the Public Acts of 1907, approved May 2, 1907.

By striking out of lines 8 and 9 of section 1 the words "as the first day of the week commonly called Sunday and,"

And has directed its chairman to report the same back to the Senate, asking that the amendment be concurred in, and recommend that, as amended, the bill pass.

Senate bill No. 60, (file No. 49), entitled

A bill to amend section 2 of Act No. 108 of the Public Acts of 1871, entitled "An act to establish an insurance bureau," the same being section 5101 of the Compiled Laws of 1897, and acts amendatory thereof, and to add one new section to said act to be known as section 11; With the recommendation that the bill be referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. White offered the following resolution:

Senate resolution No. 38.

Resolved by the Senate, That the Committee on Finance and Appropriations be authorized, at their discretion, to visit the several institutions of the State wherever a special appropriation has been asked for, and that the visitation of said institution by the usual committees assigned thereto be dispensed with. And be it further

Resolved, That said Committee on Finance and Appropriations be requested to make said visitations with all convenient speed.

The question being on the adoption of the resolution,

Mr. Lee moved to amend the resolution by inserting after the words "Committee on Finance and Appropriations" the words "and the chairman of the several institutional committees,"

On which amendment he demanded the yeas and nays.

Mr. Moriarty moved that the amendment be laid on the table,
On which motion Mr. Cartier demanded the yeas and nays.
