1 HALLELUJAH! God is near us,

Guides our footsteps everywhere ;
He can see, and he can hear us,
Heal our sorrows, soothe our care.

He will listen to our prayer.
2 Hallelujah! praise and blessing,

For his love in Christ our Lord;
He will to us, sin confessing,
Pardon and his peace accord.

Thanks for his most precious word.
3 Hallelujah! rest in heaven

Comes when work on earth is done;
Strength sufficient will be given,
And life's victory be won.

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord, through Christ the Son. 38 1 COME to the house of prayer,

O thou afflicted, come ;
The God of peace shall meet thee there,

He makes that house his home. 2 Come to the house of praise,

Ye who are happy now ;
In sweet accord your voices raise,

Your knees together bow..

S. M.

3 Ye aged, hither come,

For ye have felt his love ;
Soon shall yourtrembling tongues be dumb,

Your lips forget to move.

4 Ye young, before his throne,

Your cheerful anthems raise ;
Nor let your hearts his praise disown,

Who gives the power to praise.

5 For his benignant eye

In mercy looks on all,
He sees the tear of misery,

And hears the mourner's call.

1 IN the way of thine ordaining,

Coming to thee in distress;
Of the toil of life complaining ;
Wearied by its carefulness ;

Blessed Saviour!
Listen, and in

2 Sins and sorrows crowd about us,

Trials many, vex and grieve ;
Fears within and foes without us
Hinder, trouble, and deceive.

Blessed Saviour !
Comfort, and our cares relieve.

C. M.

3 Oh, the blessedness of knowing

All is working for our peace ;
All thy lovingkindness showing,
Hope's repose and faith's increase,

Blessed Saviour !

Let thy mercies never cease. 40 1 COME, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,

With all thy quick’ning powers,
Kindle a flame of sacred love

In these cold hearts of ours.
2 Look, how we grovel here below,

Fond of these trifling toys :
Our souls can neither fly nor go

To reach eternal joys.
3 In vain we tune our formal songs ;

In vain we strive to rise :
Hosanna's languish on our tongues,

And our devotion dies.
Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,

With all thy quick’ning powers-
Come, shed abroad a Saviour's love,

And that shall kindle ours.
1 THOU art, O Christ, the way:

Thyself reveal to me;
And let me humbly, day by day,

Live, move, and walk in thee.

S. M.

2 Thou art the truth divine :
Its fulness

see; Believe, and find the promise mineThe truth shall make

3 Thou art the life of God;

By thee the dying live:
In me diffuse thyself abroad,

And life eternal give.
4 Thus, by thyself, the Way,

I to the Father come ;
Led by the Truth, I cannot stray ;

The Life and I are one. 42

7's. 1 LORD of hosts, how good, how fair,

E'en on earth thy temples are!
Here thy waiting people see

Much of heaven and much of thee. 2 From thy gracious presence flows

Bliss that softens all our woes ;
While thy Spirit's holy fire
Warms our heart with

desire. 3 Here we supplicate thy throne ;

Here thou mak’st thy glories known ;
Here we learn thy righteous ways,

Taste thy love, and sing thy praise. 4 Thus, with sacred songs of joy,

We our happy lives employ ;
Love, and long to love thee more,
Till from earth to heaven we soar.

Tune-" Happy Land.”
1 THERE is a happy land,

Far, far away ;
Where saints in glory stand,

Bright, bright as day.
Oh! how they sweetly sing,
Worthy is our Saviour Kiny.
Loud let his praises ring,

Praise, praise for aye. 2 Come to this happy land, Come, come away;

ye doubting stand ?
Why still delay :
Oh! we shall happy be,
When from sin and sorrow free,
Lord, we shall live with thee,

Blest, blest for aye.
3 Bright in that happy land

Beams every eye
Kept by a Father's hand,

Love cannot die;
On then to glory run;
Be a crown and kingdom won,
And bright above the sun

We reign for aye.

Why will
