WHEREAS, A number of persons have associated for the pur- Preamble. pose of promoting and encouraging literature, and the said persons are desirous of becoming incorporated: Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the persons who constitute the Manayunk Athenæum and Library Company, or who shall hereafter be admitted members of the same, shall and hereby are declared to be a Style of body politic and corporate, by the name and style of "The corporation. SECTION 2. The officers of said corporation, shall be such as the said corporation may think necessary, who shall be elected annually, or otherwise, as the rules and by-laws of the corporation may direct.

AN ACT

To enable the executors and widow of James Walton to sell and convey certain real estate.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the Executors same, That Charles Lloyd, Charles Shoemaker and Ebenezer authorized to Walton, executors of the last will and testament of James Walcontract and ton, late of Muncy creek township, in Lycoming county, deceased, a majority of them or the survivor of them and Catharine Walton the widow of the said James Walton, deceased, are hereby authorized and empowered, to contract for and sell any part or parts of a certain tract, piece or parcel of land with the appurtenances, situate in Muncy creek township, aforesaid, late the estate of the said James Walton, deceased, and by him given and devised to his wife, the said Catharine Walton, for the term of her natural life, with power to his executors, above named, to sell and convey the same, after the decease of the said Catharine Walton, for the uses and purposes mentioned in the said last will and testament of the said James Walton, deceased.

SECTION 2. All such contracts and sales of the said premises, shall be made as nearly as can be, after the manner in the said will directed to be done, after the decease of the said Catharine

AN ACT

Granting to James Beatty a tract of donation land.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That upon application to him made for that purpose, the Secretary of the Land Office is hereby authorized and required to issue a warrant and patent to James Beatty, of Mercer county, for a tract of land on which he now resides, containing two hundred acres, situate in the fourth donation district, and numbered in the general plot of said district, with the number seven hundred and six, for which the said Beatty is to pay fifty cents per acre, with interest, from the sixteenth day of Febru

ary, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen: Provided, That nothing in this act shall be taken or construed to affect the right or title of any other person.

AN ACT

Authorizing the commissioners of the internal improvement fund to apply certain moneys to the payment of interest,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the commissioners of the internal improvement fund be and they are hereby authorized and required, if there should be any deficiency in the fund for the payment of interest on the first day of August next, to apply such portion of the moneys that may be in their hands for the construction of canals and rail roads as will meet the deficiency, which sum or sums are to be repaid out of the funds pledged for the payment

of interest.

Vesting the right of this Commonwealth to the escheated estate of Diana
James, deceased, in Sarah Dexter and Jane Nelson wife of Ralph Nelson.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the title which this Commonwealth may have ac quired by reason of an escheat for want of heirs, or known kindred of Diana James, deceased, of the city of Philadelphia, in and to the personal property whereof the said Diana James died possessed, is hereby vested in Sarah Dexter and Jane Nelson, wife of Ralph Nelson.
