2 In part displayed to realms above,
Not quite on earth concealed;
By wonderous, unexhausted love,
To favoured men revealed.

3 Elected by thy grace alone,

Our names were writ in heaven ;
And, for our sins, thine equal Son
A sacrifice was given.

4 Thou reignest the unchanging God,
When nature shall expire;
When worlds, created by thy nod,
Shall perish all by fire.

5 Thy name, Jehovah, be adored
By creatures without end,

Whom none but thine essential Word
And Spirit comprehend.

12.

Micah vii. 18.

GREAT God of wonders! all thy ways
Are matchless, God-like, and Divine ;
But the fair glories of thy grace

Most God-like and unrivalled shine.
Who is a pardoning God like thee?
And who hath grace so rich and free?

2 Crimes of such horror to forgive,

Such guilty, daring worms to spare, This is thy grand prerogative;

And none shall in this honour share. Who is a pardoning God like thee? And who hath grace so rich and free?

3 Angels and men, resign your

claim

To pity, mercy, love, and grace;
These glories crown Jehovah's name
With an incomparable blaze.
Who is a pardoning God like thee?
And who hath grace so rich and free?

4 In wonder lost, with trembling joy,

We view the covenant of our God;
Pardon for guilt of deepest dye,

Thro' our most precious Jesu's blood.
Who is a pardoning God like thee?
And who hath grace so rich and free?

[blocks in formation]

ABBA, Father! Lord we call thee,
Hallowed name from day to day;
'Tis thy children's right to know thee-
None but children " Abba" say.

2 This high blessing we inherit,

First thy gift, and then Christ's blood;
God the Spirit to our spirit,
Witnesseth we're sons of God.

3 Abba's love first gave us being,
When in Christ, in that vast plan,
Abba chose the Church in Jesus,
Long before the world began.

4 Abba, Father, made all certain

Both by word, by oath, and blood;
Abba said, "They are my people,"
And they say, "The Lord's my God!'

B

5 Hence through all our changing seasons,
Trouble, sorrow, sickness, woe;
Nothing changes God's affection,
Abba's love will bring us through.

6 Soon shall all thy blood-bought children, Round thy throne their anthems raise; And in songs of rich salvation,

14.

Shout to Abba endless praise!

Job xxxiii. 24.

ALL praise to Jehovah, by Adam's lost race, The fountain of mercy, the God of all grace, Who, ere by transgression man captive was bound,

In infinite wisdom a ransom had found.

2 His Surety was Jesus, his ransom Christ's blood:

Thus blameless he stood in the purpose of God;

And justice no more can elect ones pursue, Their debts are all cancelled, the law had its due.

3 Here seraphs may ponder, o'erwhelmed with the thought,

How man found a ransom, when angels did not;

A depth so mysterious what mind can. explore,

Or fathom this sea without bottom or shore.

4 Ye debtors to mercy, this freedom who know, Haste, render to Jesus the praises you owe;

15.

With harps, and with odours, and seraphim lays,

Let all the redeemed sing the Ransomer's praise.

Heb. xiii. 20, 21.

FATHER of peace, and God of love,
We own thy power to save;

That power by which our Shepherd rose
Triumphant o'er the grave.

2 Him from the dead thou broughtest again, When, by his sacred blood,

The everlasting covenant

Confirmed and sealed stood.

3 Lord, may thy Spirit in our souls
Energize all thy will,

That our frail hearts no more may stray,
But love thy precepts still.

4 So to the source from whence the power
By him our souls shall rise:

16.

And all we will, and all we do,
Be pleasing in thine eyes.

1 Pet. i. 3, 5.

BLEST be the everlasting God,
The Father of our Lord;
Be his almighty mercy praised,
His majesty adored.

2 When from the dead he raised his Son,
And called him to the sky,

He gave his Church a lively hope,
That they should never die.

3 There's an inheritance divine Reserved against that day; 'Tis incorruptible and pure, And fadeth not away.

4 Reserved for those kept by God's power, Till their salvation come;

17.

Who walk by faith as strangers here,
Whom Jesus shall take home.

Ps. xxxvi. 7.

NOW in a sweet triumphant song,
Let ransomed mortals join,
To celebrate, with heart and tongue,
Jehovah's love Divine.

2 When he beheld the chosen race
All weltering in their gore,
Terrific frowns ne'er clothed his face,
Nor did his vengeance roar.

3 He turned his eyes to Jesus then,
And in their Surety saw

His dear delights, the sons of men,
Complete, without a flaw.

4 'Twas on this deep unfathomed sea,
That life by Jesus came;

He bore his people's sins away-
All glory to his name!

5 To Zion's great eternal King,
Who bled for worms below,
Let bright immortal spirits sing,
And praise unmeasured flow.
