1875. April 17. Walter McChesney, a brakeman in employ of the company, while attempting to get off the forward end of a flat car, while in motion, in Troy freight yard, missed his hold, and falling to the ground was run over and instantly killed. May 1. William Stiles, a freight conductor employed by the company, fell from his train near Canal street, in the city of Troy, the trucks of two cars passing over his body; he was almost instantly killed. July 22. Timothy Sweeney, formerly in the employ of the company, was run over near Eagle Bridge station, by a light engine returning to Troy from North Adams, and so seriously injured that he died six hours later; was known to have been drunk same evening the accident occurred, and it is supposed he had laid down on the track to sleep. September 11. A boy six years old, by the name of Hart, while playing about Adams street wharf, in the city of Troy, fell under a flat car in motion, and received injuries from which he died in a few days. September 11. John Connors, a peach peddler, carelessly drove his team on to a crossing at Johnsonville station, just as an engine was backing on to its train, and received injuries from which he was disabled for several weeks. As he had just came out of a drinking saloon, and managed his team in a reckless manner, it is supposed he was under the influence of liquor at the time the accident occurred.
