during the term of her natural life, free from the debts and controul of her present or any future husband, and her own receipt to be a sufficient discharge for the same, and from and after her decease, I give and bequeath the said principal sum of three hundred pounds, and the stocks, funds, or securities in or upon which the same may be invested, unto my cousin Edward Thomas, for his own absolute use and benefit."

7. A bequest of household furniture, plate, linen, and china, to the eldest son, subject to the life-use by the testator's widow of a portion thereof.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my executors hereinafter named, all my household furniture, plate, linen, and china, upon trust, to permit my wife to have the use and occupation of so much thereof as shall not exceed in value the sum of £100, for and during the term of her natural life, provided she shall so long continue my widow; and from and after her decease or second marriage, I give and bequeath such of my furniture, plate, linen, and china, as my wife may then be possessed of, of or belonging to me, unto my eldest son Edward Williams. And as

to all the rest, residue, and remainder of my said household furniture, plate, linen, and china, I give and bequeath the same unto my said son Edward Williams for his own absolute use and benefit, to take and receive the same at the expiration of one month after my decease."

8. Pecuniary legacies to the testator's children, payable to them at the age of twenty-one as to sons, and at the like age or day of marriage, as to daughters, with a general benefit of survivorship, and with directions that the interest and dividends thereof shall be applied for the benefit of the legatees during their minority.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my executors, the principal sum of ten thousand pounds, upon trust, as soon as conveniently may be after my decease, to invest the same in some or one of the public stocks or funds of Great Britain, and to divide the said principal sum, or the stocks, funds, or securities in or upon which the same may be invested, among my six children, Edward, Charlotte, James, Henry, Caroline, and Isabella Smith, to such of them as are sons, on their attaining the age of twenty-one years, and to such of them as are daughters, on their attain

ing the like age, or on their marriage respectively, which shall first happen, in equal shares and proportions: and I direct that the interest, dividends, and annual produce arising therefrom, shall be paid and applied in and towards their maintenance and education, until they shall severally and respectively attain the said age of twenty-one years, or marry as aforesaid. And in case any or either of my said children shall happen to die before their said legacies shall become payable, then I give and bequeath the share or shares of him, her, or them so dying as aforesaid, unto the survivors or survivor of them, his or her executors, administrators, and assigns. But should they all die under the said age and unmarried as aforesaid, then I give and bequeath the said principal sum of ten thousand pounds, or the stocks, funds, and securities in or upon which the same may be invested, unto and equally amongst all my brothers and sisters who may be then living, and the issue of such of them as may be dead, such issue, nevertheless, taking the same share or shares which his, her, or their deceased parent or parents would have been entitled to had they been living."

9. Bequest of an annuity to a person for life.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my wife's sister Emma Thruscott, spinster, the annual sum of twenty pounds, for and during the term of her natural life, for her own sole and separate use, free from the debts, controul, or engagements of any husband she may hereafter marry. And I direct that the said annual sum shall be paid quarterly, on the four most usual days for payment of rent in the year, and that the first payment thereof shall be made on such of the said days as shall first happen after my decease; and that the legacy-duty on the said annuity shall be paid out of the residue of my personal estate."

10. Bequest of an annuity to one person for the life of another.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my brother John Marshall, one annuity or annual sum of one hundred pounds, for and during the term of the natural life of my dear wife, and to be paid to him by equal half-yearly payments, the first payment thereof to be made at the expiration of six calendar months after my decease.

11. Bequest of an annuity for a term of years.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my cousin

Edward Jameson, one annuity or annual sum of twenty pounds, for the term of ten years from the time of my decease; and I direct the same to be paid by equal half-yearly payments, the first payment thereof to begin and be made at the expiration of six calendar months after my death." 12. Bequest of an annuity for the longest of two lives.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my late servant John Smith, and Mary his wife, the annuity or annual sum of fifteen pounds, for and during the term of their joint natural lives, and the life of the survivor of them; the said annuity to be paid quarterly, the first payment thereof to be made at the expiration of three months after my death."

13. Bequest of an annuity for the joint lives of two persons.

"Also I give and bequeath unto my son Charles, and Elizabeth his wife, one annuity or annual sum of two hundred pounds, for and during the term of their joint natural lives, and to be paid by equal quarterly payments, the first payment to be made at the expiration of three months after my decease."
