CHAPTER 2.

An Act for Raising Money on the Credit of the
General Revenue Fund of Alberta.

(Assented to April 8, 1926.)

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. The Lieutenant Governor in Council is hereby author- Authorization ized to raise by way of loan a sum of money not exceeding three million dollars for any or all of the purposes following, that is to say:

(a) For the Public Service; for the covering of any debt of the Province on open account; for paying any floating indebtedness of the Province; for the carrying on of public works authorized by the Legislature; for the satisfaction or discharge of any obligations of the Province; and for such other purposes as may be authorized by the Legislature, two million, seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars; (b) For the extension of the Provincial Telephone System, two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

2. The aforesaid sum of money may be borrowed for any Term, term or terms not exceeding fifty years, at such rate of interest as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine, and shall be raised upon the credit of the General Revenue Fund of the Province of Alberta and shall be chargeable thereon.

3. This Act shall come into force on the day upon which Coming into it is assented to.

CHAPTER 3.

An Act to amend The Legislative Assembly Act.

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Legislative Assembly Short title 'Act Amendment Act, 1926."

2. The Legislative Assembly Act, being chapter 3 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1922, is amended as follows.

3. Section 3 of the said Act is amended by striking out Section 3 the words "and except the Electoral Division of Medicine Hat which shall return two Members."

4. Section 10 of the said Act is amended by striking out Section 10 subsection 2 and substituting therefor the following:

"(2) Nothing in this section shall render ineligible as aforesaid any person being a member of the Executive Council."

5. Section 11a is added to the said Act immediately after Section 11a section 11, as follows:

"11a. No person shall be eligible to be nominated as a Member to candidate, or to be a member of the Legislative Assembly or sit or vote in the same unless at the time of his nomination he would be entitled to be placed on a list of voters of an Electoral Division of Alberta if the same were then being compiled."

6. Section 17 of the said Act is amended—
(a) as to subsection (1) thereof by striking out the
words "If any member of the Legislative Assembly
becomes a member of the Executive Council, or if
by accepting any other office, or becoming a party to
any contract or agreement as in section 11 hereof
mentioned, he becomes disqualified by law to con-
tinue to sit or vote in the Legislative Assembly, his
seat shall thereby be vacated," and substituting
therefor the words "If any member of the Legis-
lative Assembly by accepting any office or becoming

a party to any contract or agreement as in section 11 hereof mentioned, becomes disqualified by law to sit or vote in the Legislative Assembly, his seat shall thereby be vacated"; and

(b) by striking out subsection (2) thereof.

7. Section 54 of the said Act is amended by striking out the words "for a period of not less than six weeks."

8. Schedule 1 of the said Act is amended by striking out each of the Electoral Divisions of Redcliff, Medicine Hat, Gleichen, Okotoks, Calgary, Cochrane, Edmonton, Leduc, Sturgeon and the descriptions thereof, and adding to the said schedule the following:

CYPRESS.-Commencing at the north-east corner of township 12, range 1, west of the 4th meridian; thence west along the north boundary of the 12th townships, to the north-east corner of township 12, range 5, west of the 4th meridian; thence south along the meridian line between ranges 4 and 5, west of the 4th meridian to the north-east corner of township 11, range 5, west of the 4th meridian; thence west along the north boundary of the 11th townships to the north-east corner of township 11, range 7, west of the 4th meridian; thence north along the meridian line, between ranges 6 and 7, west of the 4th meridian to the point of its intersection with the South Saskatchewan River; thence westerly up stream along the said South Saskatchewan River to the point of its intersection with the meridian line between ranges 10 and 11, west of the 4th meridian; thence south along the meridian line between ranges 10 and 11, west of the 4th meridian to the point of its intersection with the International Boundary; thence east along the International Boundary to the point of its intersection with the 4th meridian; thence north along the said 4th meridian to the point of commencement.

MEDICINE HAT.-All of townships 12 and 13, in ranges 5 and 6, west of the 4th meridian.

EMPRESS.-Commencing at the point of intersection of the Red Deer River with the 4th meridian; thence westerly along the said Red Deer River up stream to the point of its intersection with the meridian line between ranges 11 and 12, west of the 4th meridian; thence south along the meridian line between ranges 11 and 12, west of the 4th meridian to the north-east corner of township 13, range 12, west of the 4th meridian; thence west along the north boundary of the 13th townships to its intersection with the Bow River; thence southerly and down stream along the Bow River to its junction with the Old Man River; thence easterly along the South Saskatchewan River down stream to the point of its intersection with the meridian line between ranges 6 and 7, west of the 4th meridian; thence north along the meridian line between ranges 6 and 7, west of the 4th meridian to the north-east corner of township 13, range 7, west of the 4th meridian; thence east along the north boundary of the 13th townships to the north-east corner of township 13, range 5, west of the 4th meridian; thence south along the meridian line between ranges 4 and 5, west of the 4th meridian to the north-east corner of township 12, range 5, west of the 4th meridian; thence east along the north boundary of the 12th townships to the point of its intersection with the 4th meridian; thence north along the 4th meridian to the point of commencement.

GLEICHEN.-Commencing at the north-east corner of township 28, range 22, west of the 4th meridian; thence west along the north boundary of the 28th townships to the north-east corner of township 28, range 28, west of the 4th meridian; thence south along the meri. dian line between ranges 27 and 28, west of the 4th meridian, to the
