CHAPTER 35.

An Act to validate and confirm the Levy and
Collection of School Taxes in the Municipal

District of Springbank, No. 221.

(Assented to April 8, 1926.)

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the

Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts

as follows:

It is hereby declared that the levy and collection of Validation of school taxes in rural school districts within the Municipal school taxes District of Springbank, No. 221, by the said district, during the years 1920, 1921, 1922, 1923, 1924 and 1925, are hereby validated and confirmed and the said district shall be deemed to have been during the said years a legally constituted collecting municipal district within the meaning of The School Assessment Act, and it is further declared that the said municipal district shall, during the year 1926, be such collecting municipal district, and shall have power to levy and collect school taxes in any rural school district which has not been declared a village school district for assessment purposes.

2. This Act shall come into force on the day upon which Coming into it is assented to.

CHAPTER 36.

An Act to amend The Timber Areas Tax Act.

IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Timber Areas Tax Act Short title Amendment Act, 1926."

2. The Timber Areas Tax Act, being chapter 35 of the Section 3 Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1922, is amended as to section 3 thereof by striking out the words "On on before the first day of March in each year every proprietor shall, without receiving any notice or demand, deliver to the Minister a statement" and substituting therefor the words "On or before the first day of March in each year, every proprietor (or where he has not become a proprietor until after the said day, then within three weeks of becoming a proprietor) shall, without receiving any notice or demand, deliver to the Minister a statement."

3. Section 6 of the said Act is hereby struck out and the New following substituted therefor:

"6. On or before the first day of June in each year, every proprietor (or where he has not become a proprietor until after the first day of March, then within two months of becoming a proprietor) shall pay to the Minister a tax of two cents for every acre of land comprised in such timber area: "Provided, however, that where the tax so calculated amounts to less than five dollars, the said tax shall be the sum of five dollars."

4. Section 8a is added to the said Act immediately after Section 8a section 8, as follows:

"Sa. In the event of any tax payable under this Act remaining unpaid after the fifteenth day of December of the year in which it was imposed, a penalty of ten per centum thereof shall be added to and become part of such unpaid tax."

5. This Act shall come into force on the day upon which Coming into it is assented to.

CHAPTER 37.

An Act to amend The Wild Lands Tax Act.

(Assented to April 8, 1926.)

[IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Wild Lands Tax Act Short title Amendment Act, 1926."

The Wild Lands Tax Act, being chapter 31 of the Re- Exemption vised Statutes of Alberta, 1922, is amended as to subsection amended (1) of section 4, by striking out of paragraph (p) thereof the words "Every parcel of land one-fourth of the area of which has been under cultivation or crop during the previous year or prior to the first day of August of the year in which the tax is levied" and substituting therefor the words "Every parcel of land, one-fourth of the area of which was under cultivation or crop in the year in which the tax is levied and prior to the first day of August thereof, or in either of the two preceding years."

3. The proviso to subsection (2) of section 4 of the said Section 4 Act is amended by striking out the words "one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six" and substituting therefor the words "one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven."
