CHAPTER 24.

An Act to amend The Public Health Act.

(Assented to April 8, 1926.)

[IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Public Health Act Short title Amendment Act, 1926."

2. The Public Health Act, being chapter 58 of the Revised Section 7 (1) (k) amended Statutes of Alberta, 1922, is amended as to section 7, subsection (1) by striking out the words "a medical officer of health" where they occur in paragraph (k) thereof, and substituting therefor the words "the local board."

3. Section 21 of the said Act is amended as to subsection Section 21 (4) thereof by inserting after the words "members of the (4) amended council" the words "the medical officer of health, if any."

4. This Act shall come into force on the day upon which Date of it is assented to.

CHAPTER 25.

An Act to amend The Hospitals Act.

(Assented to April 8, 1926.)

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of

the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta,

enacts as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as "The Hospitals Act Amend- Short title ment Act, 1926."

2. The Hospitals Act, being chapter 60 of the Revised Section 7 (4) Statutes of Alberta, 1922, is amended as to section 7 by striking out subsection (4) thereof and substituting therefor the following:

"(4) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Act, when any indigent sick person is admitted to a hospital, no local authority shall be liable to pay to the hospital in respect of the care or treatment of such person more than two hundred dollars in any one year counting from the date of admission, but shall endeavour to collect such charge or the uncollected portion thereof, as the case may be, and out of any money so collected shall pay the amount of the balance due to the hospital before repaying itself the amount already paid by it to such hospital."

3. This Act shall come into force on the first day of May, Date of 1926.
