Mr. Rosenkrans moved that the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of Henry R. Pattengill, of Lansing, as a member of the State Board of Library Commissioners.

The motion prevailed.

Mr. White moved that the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of Edwin O. Shaw, of Newaygo, as a member of the Board of Managers of the Michigan Soldiers' Home.

Mr. Barnaby moved to substitute the nomination of Dr. J. B. Griswold of Grand Rapids, for the recess appointment of Edwin O. Shaw, On which motion Mr. Mapes demanded the yeas and nays.

The motion made by Mr. Barnaby then did not prevail, a majority of the Senators present not voting therefor, by yeas and nays, as follows:

Mr. Collins moved that the nomination of E. T. Boden, of Bay City, as a member of the State Board of Pharmacy, be laid on the table. The motion prevailed.

The Committee on Executive business to which was referred the following nomination to office by the Governor:

John O. Maxey, of L'Anse, county of Baraga, as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Upper Peninsula Hospital for the Insane at Newberry, to succeed C. J. Byrns, who has resigned, for the term ending the second Monday in February, 1915;

Respectfully reports that it has had the same under consideration, and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the said nomination to office.

Dr. John H. Kellogg of Battle Creek, county of Calhoun, as a member of the State Board of Health, to succeed Angus McLean, for the term ending January 31, 1917;

Calvin A. Palmer of Manistee, county of Manistee, for Insurance Commissioner to succeed Marion O. Rowland, resigned, for the term ending June 30, 1911;

Charles F. Backus of Detroit, county of Wayne, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the State Asylum at Ionia, to succeed Fred A. Washburn, for the term ending January 31, 1917;

Respectfully reports that it has had the same under consideration and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the said nominations to office.
