The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the President.

The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

The following Senator was present: Mr. Farr—1.

The President announced that there was not a quorum of the Senate present.

The President announced that he and the President pro tem. would be unavoidably absent from the session of Monday, and that, acting under rule 2 of the Senate rules, which provides that the "President, or in his absence, the President pro tempore, shall have the right to name any Senator to act as presiding officer," he would designate Senator Humphrey as Acting President during his absence.

Mr. Farr moved that the Senate adjourn.

The motion prevailed, the time being 2:10 o'clock p. m., and the Presi dent declared the Senate adjourned until Monday, June 3, at 9 o'clock p. m.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the Acting President.

The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

The Acting President announced that there was not a quorum of the Senate present.
