M. Gore Van Antwerp, of Detroit, as member of the Board of Jury Commissioners for Wayne county for the term of six years, beginning the first day of May, 1901, succeeding Frederick W. Crydeman;

Respectfully report that they have had the same under consideration, and have directed me to report the same back to the Senate, with the recommendation that the Senate advise and consent to the said nominations to office.

Mr. Cannon moved that the Senate vote collectively on the nominations to office submitted in the foregoing report.

Mr. Goodell moved, as a substitute, that the nominations of Albert R. Town and M. Gore Van Antwerp be re-referred to the Committee on Executive Business.

The substitute was not adopted.

The question then being on the motion made by Mr. Cannon, that the Senate vote collectively on the foregoing nominations to office,

By unanimous consent,

Mr. Palmer offered the following resolution:

Whereas, Reports derogatory to the official action of certain officers of the State Agricultural College are in circulation, much to the detri ment of that institution; and

Whereas, The Committee on Agricultural College are unanimously of the opinion that an investigation of said reports is desirable and needed; therefore,

Resolved, That the Committee on Agricultural College is hereby authorized to make a thorough investigation of such acts of the officers of that institution as it deems necessary, and for such purposes said committee is authorized to subpoena witnesses and take the testimony

thereof, and compel the production of papers and documents under subpoenas duly issued by the chairman of said committee, and said committee may employ a stenographer to take testimony and report the evidence to this Senate with all convenient speed.

The resolution was adopted.

Mr. Gad Smith moved that the Executive Session close.
