A PRETTY TRICK.

JACK SPRAT would eat no fat,
His wife would eat no lean;
Was not that a pretty trick

To make the platter clean?

A CROOKED STORY.

THERE was a crooked man, and he went a crooked mile,

And he found a crooked sixpence against a crooked

stile.

He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked

mouse,

And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

THE COURAGEOUS LITTLE PRIEST OF

FELTON.

THE little priest of Felton,

The little priest of Felton,

He killed a mouse within his house,

And ne'er a one to help him.

JERRY, JAMES, AND JOHN.

THERE was an old woman had three sons:

Jerry, James, and John.

Jerry was hung; James was drowned;
John was lost, and never was found;
And that is the end of the three sons,
Jerry, and James, and John.

A BRIEF TALE OF A TAILOR WHO
MISSED HIS MARK.

A CARRION crow sat on an oak,
Watching a tailor shape his cloak.
"Wife," cried he, "bring me my bow,
That I may shoot yon carrion crow!"
The tailor shot, and missed his mark,
And shot his own sow through the heart.
"Wife, bring me some brandy in a spoon,
For our old sow is in a swoon."

THERE was an old woman who lived in a shoe,
She had so many children she didn't know what

to do;

She gave them some broth without any bread,

Then whipped them all soundly, and sent them to

bed.

THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT.

THIS is the house that Jack built.

This is the malt, that lay in the house that Jack built. This is the rat, that ate the malt, that lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the cat, that killed the rat, that ate the malt, that lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the dog, that worried the cat, that killed the rat, that ate the malt, that lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the cow with the crumpled horn, that tossed the dog, that worried the cat, that killed the rat, that ate the malt, that lay in the house that Jack built.
