A bill to make appropriations for the Kalamazoo State Hospital for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1924, and June 30, 1925, for maintenance, operation and other purposes.

The following are the amendments recommended by the committee:

(1) Section 1, strike out in lines 8 and 9 the words "nine hundred seventy-two thousand, four hundred thirty-six dollars and forty cents" and insert in lieu thereof the words "one million two hundred forty-two thousand, three hundred twenty-five dollars".

(2) Section 1, strike out in lines 10 and 11 the words "nine hundred five thousand, seven hundred fifty-two dollars and forty cents" and insert in lieu thereof the words "one million two hundred twenty-three thousand, nine hundred sixty-one dollars".

Third Reading of Bills.

The following entitled bill was read a third time:

A bill to amend section 41 of chapter 2 of Act No. 314 of the Public Acts of 1915, known as "The Judicature Act of 1915," being section 12124 of the Compiled Laws of 1915, as amended by Act No. 346 of the Public Acts of 1917.

Pending the taking of the vote on the passage of the bill,

Mr. Wood offered the following amendments:

Section 41, line 1, strike out the word "January” and insert in lieu thereof the word "September".

Section 41, line 2, strike out the figures "1924" and insert in lieu thereof the figures "1923".

Section 41, strike out all after the word "situated".

Add a new section to the body of the bill to be numbered Section 2, as follows: "Sec. 2. Nothing in this act shall be construed to affect the ten circuit judges elected at the general election held in April 1923."

The amendments were seconded, a majority of the Senators present voting therefor.

The amendments were then considered and agreed to, a majority of all the Senators-elect voting therefor.

Under rule 37, the bill was ordered to lie over one day.

Upon motion of Mr. Wood,

The bill was ordered reprinted as amended.

Mr. William L. Case moved to take from the table the following entitled joint resolution:

General Orders.

Mr. Gettel moved that the Senate resove itself into Committee of the Whole for consideration of the general orders.

The motion prevailed and the President designated Mr. Gettel as chairman. Accordingly the Senate resolved itself into Committee of the Whole, with Mr. Gettel in the chair.

After some time spent therein the committee rose; and, the President having resumed the chair, the committee, through its chairman, reported back to the Senate, favorably and without amendment, the following entitled bills:
