[blocks in formation]

Some little mice sat in a barn to spin,

Pussy came by and popped her head in;

"Shall I come in and cut your threads off?"

66

"O! no, kind sir, you will snap our heads off!"

PUSSY.

I like little pussy,

Her coat is so warm; And if I don't hurt her

She'll do me no harm. So I'll not pull her tail, Nor drive her away,

But pussy and I

Very gently will play.

WHAT ARE EYES FOR?

What are eyes for?

To see with.

What are ears for?

To hear with.

What is the tongue for?

To talk with.

What are teeth for?

To eat with.

What is the nose for?

To smell with.

What are legs for?

To walk with.

THE FACE.

Brow bender,

Eye peeper,

Nose smeller,

Mouth eater,

Chin chopper.

Knock at the door,

Peep in;

Lift up the latch,
Walk in.

SONG SET TO FIVE FINGERS.

1. This little pig went to market; 2. This little pig staid at home; 3. This little pig had roast meat; 4. This little pig had none; 5. This little pig cried "Wee, wee, I can't find my way home."

HERE AM I.

Here am I, little jumping Joan;
When nobody's with me
I'm always alone.

DO YOU GUESS IT IS I?

I am a little thing,

I am not very high,

I laugh, dance, and sing,
And sometimes I cry.

I have a little head,

All covered o'er with hair, And I hear what is said

With my two ears there.

On my two feet I walk.
I run, too, with ease.
With my little tongue I talk
Just as much as I please.

I have ten fingers, too,

And just as many toes;

I have eyes to see through,
And but one little nose.

I've a mouth full of teeth,

Where my bread and milk goes in; And close by, underneath,

Is my little round chin.

What is this little thing,
Not very, very high,

That can laugh, dance, and sing?
Do you guess it is I?

HEY! DIDDLE, DIDDLE.

Hey! diddle, diddle,

The cat and the fiddle,

The cow jumped over the moon ;

The little dog laugh'd

To see such craft,

And the dish ran away with the spoon.

CUSHEY COW BONNY.

Cushey cow bonny, let down thy milk, And I will give thee a gown of silk; A gown of silk and a silver tee,

If thou wilt let down thy milk to me.
