Mr. HAMILTON of Michigan, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT.

[To accompany H. R. 8146.]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 8146) to construct a bridge across Rock River at or near Colona Ferry, in the State of Illinois, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached and which are made a part of this report.

2. The accompanying bill (H. R. 8146, 62d Cong., 1st sess.), to authorize the construction of a bridge across Rock River, near Colona Ferry, Ill., is in the usual form and makes ample provision for the protection of navigation interests.

3 So far as those interests are concerned, I know of no objection to its favorable consideration by Congress.

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 5138) permitting the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie Railway Co. to construct, maintain, and operate a railroad bridge across the St. Croix River between the States of Wisconsin and Minnesota, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached and which are made a part of this report.

R. 11321) to authorize the Twin City & Lake Superior Railway Co. to construct a bridge across the St. Croix River between Wisconsin and Minnesota, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached and which are made a part of this report.

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 11723) permitting the building of a railroad bridge across the St. Croix River between the States of Wisconsin and Minnesota, having considered the same, report thereon with amendment and as so amended recommend that it pass.

The bill as amended has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached, and which are made a part of this report.

Amend the bill as follows:

Insert, after the word "point," on page 1, line 7, the words "suitable to the interests of navigation."

Strike out, in line 2, page 2, the words "eighteen hundred and ninety-six" and insert in lieu thereof the words "nineteen hundred and six."

Strike out, in line 5, page 2, the word "two" and insert in lieu thereof the word "three."

Respectfully returned to the Secretary of War with recommendation that the accompanying bill (H. R. 11723, 62d Cong., 1st sess.) to authorize the construction of a bridge across St. Croix River, Wis. and Minn., be amended as indicated in red thereon.

As thus amended, the bill will be in the usual form, and I know of no objection to its favorable consideration by Congress, so far as the interests of navigation are concerned.
